![]() ![]() why is it giving me trouble? Any setting I should tweak or change? I'm debating whether to just use the Shield for watching and just get a NAS to host & transcode the Plex content instead but I really want it to be last resort because of the pricing. I thought the Shield was advertised as a good enough Plex server to use by 1 person. But obviously I want a low power setup to use for the TV. It is wired directly to the Orbi router that has wireless backhaul to the other 2 satellites. I ensured that the file is fine by playing it on PC with mpv (great player!) and have had absolutely zero issues. Player Version: 9.4 (c1355c16) Background: I have an Unraid server that hosts movies (mainly 4k remuxes) on x4 HGST HUH721212ALE600 drives using a Plex server primarily. I have the Plex Pass so hardware transcoding should work. ![]() It says on the activity feed that it's transcoding with HW (I believe that just means hardware accelerated encoding) and it just lags like crazy. PLEX Media Server op SHIELD TV ondersteunt de meest geavanceerde PLEX-serverfuncties met een streamingapparaat met laag vermogen (<10 W). It is horribly slow, and Plex crashes if I pause for more than a few seconds. In short, if youre just using the Shield Pro for yourself and your family, its more than capable as a Plex server, and the Pro itself is the most capable streamer on the market. Next, you'll want to load up your Shield with all your favorite media. Started watching another show which had ASS subtitles and the Plex player says it has to transcode because of the subtitles (PGS wasn't available from the content I downloaded). The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro has 500GB of internal storage, which makes it the ideal candidate to be your Plex Media Server. With PLEX on SHIELD TV Pro, users can host and access their own media (movies, music, photos), from virtually anywhere an internet connection is available. SHIELD isnt just the only smart TV device thats a Plex media server its also a Plex media player. I was mostly using it to watch anime (I just get content from nyaa), got a Samsung T7 SSD to externally plug to the Shield. It's up to date and I have Plex & Plex Media Server configured. Got a Shield TV Pro the other day, the most recent model. ![]()
